It’s no doubt that most card games require more luck than skill. Even the most skilled players run out of luck and lose games.
Card games, in general, are games of probability and luck. One needs to understand all possible outcomes and be ready for it all. Texas Hold’em is no different.
This game requires 80% skill and 20% luck. Things may look bad initially, but there is a good chance that you might beat your opponent. So there’s no one way to tell who would win a game.
There have been several unique outcomes in the Hold’em as well. One of them being two royal flushes in a row. Let’s get hypothetical and just figure out the probability of this.
Do The Math
We will make this very simple for you.
The total number of attainable hands in Poker is 2,598,960. This also means 1 in 649,739 or 4 in 2,598,960.
In order to find out the probability of two events happening back to back, we will need to do a little math. We need to multiply both the results together. This gives a total result of 0.000154% × 0.000154% = 0.000000023716% (otherwise 1 in 422,160,768,121).
This is the same if you are going to use 7 cards as well. Keeping the same idea as the previous, we pick all the attainable hands (For 7 cards it is 133,784,560).
Here is where we change things a little.
When we use 7 cards for calculating, we must work out the final position of the 6th and 7th cards. This is because the probability will end up changing.
In order to do this, we need an easy element in the following 2 cards or which cards will give you a result of 1081. We already know that 4 suits means to calculate what we previously mentioned by 4, which will give us 4,324 ways that the remaining 2 cards can give us a royal flush.
Let’s do the math one more time.
1 in 30,940 or 4,324 in 133,784,560 which will give us a result of 0.00323%.
In order for the event of the royal flushes’ to happen 2 times in a row would be 1 in 957,283,600 or 4,324 in 133,784,560.
